Black Women Deserve More: Mercedes Swan’s Career Love Community Isn’t Asking. It’s Building.

In a year when over 300,000 Black women have been forced out of the workforce, one woman is building something radically different: a space that catches us when corporate America drops us.
Corporate America has already shown its hand. DEI budgets slashed. Diversity commitments dialed back. And when layoffs come, our jobs are often the first to go. It’s the same old story. But this time, Mercedes Swan is writing a new chapter.
Known as The Career Love Coach, Swan recently launched the Career Love Community, a free digital space built for Black women who are done waiting for corporations to do right by us. It’s a soft landing in a hard economy, and more than that, it’s a launchpad for what’s next.
“Black women are tired of surviving systems and spaces that weren’t built for us,” Swan says. “We deserve more. This community is our way of building hope, direction, and inspiration for a better future.”
What Makes the Career Love Community Different

Inside the Career Love Community, members gain access to curated circles, live trainings, and real-time support. It’s a space where you can unpack your layoff, vent about that micromanaging boss, or sketch out your entrepreneurial dreams. It’s a safe space where Black women are not only be heard, they are given tools to move forward.
For those who want to go deeper, there are premium options that plug you into Swan’s Black Woman Bliss Framework: what she terms “a blueprint for alignment, freedom, and abundance.” But at its heart, the community itself is free.
The demand for spaces like this is undeniable. Over 160 women joined during the soft launch alone, proof that when you create something rooted in our lived experience, we show up.
Personally Speaking…
Full disclosure: I joined the Career Love Community myself. And as someone who tends to meet new spaces with skepticism, I wasn’t sure what I would find. Too many “safe spaces” have turned out to be thinly veiled sales funnels or echo chambers.
What I encountered instead was a rare mix of affirmation and strategy. A space where exhaustion didn’t need justification, and brilliance didn’t need shrinking. Members weren’t just venting. They were mapping out solutions, exchanging resources, and holding space for each other without pretense.
That experience made it clear to me that Da Clurrrrb, the online book club created around Playing the Game While Black Womaning in Corporate America™, belonged here. I’d always imagined Da Clurrrrb as a place to strip away the corporate gloss and talk honestly about what it takes to survive and strategize in a space that was never designed with us in mind. Inside the Career Love Community, it now rests on a stronger foundation: one rooted in collective strategy and sisterhood.
Why It Matters Now
We’ve been conditioned to grind, to double our effort for half the credit. But in 2025, the receipts are clear: hard work alone won’t save us from systemic erasure. What we need are spaces designed for us, by us. Spaces that affirm our brilliance, validate our struggles, and help us pivot into careers that actually love us back.
That’s what the Career Love Community represents. Not just a safety net, but infrastructure. Not just reaction, but blueprint. At a time when corporate America is closing doors, Mercedes Swan is opening one wide, and reminding us that the next chapter of survival is about more than holding on.
Beyond Surviving: We’re Plotting Freedom
The Career Love Community is more than a safety net. It’s a strategy hub. A sisterhood. A refusal to disappear quietly. Because despite corporate America essentially shouting from the rooftops it’s just not that into us, we aren’t going away quietly. When Black women exit, we don’t just fade away. We build. We launch. We disrupt.
And Mercedes Swan? She’s holding the door wide open, saying, “Sis, you’re not alone. Let’s build something together that loves you back.”
